On 24 may 2021 Chamrajnagar . At 8.20 pm Punjur Range staff got information about spotted deer hunting and possession of meat. The team led by RFO raided the house of an accused Nandish Nayaka age 36 S/O Late Lachhunayak Resident of Dodda Mudahalli . At the time of raid accused was was cutting meat with knife. Team recovered around 24 kg of meat and 4 legs of deer . It was observed that prima facie it’s a spotted deer meat. When inquired accused revealed the name of one Rangaswamy from whom he purchased the deer meat. The our team raided the another accused Rangaswamy s/o Chananjegowda resident of Goremadu village near Punjur. As per their statements the hunting of the spotted deer took place near Goremadu doddi halla, which comes under Kolipalya beat of punjur Range.They captured the deer by using snare and killed it on the spot, burnt the deer skin on spot and meat was sold to Nandish. Further during search of his house team also recovered one elephant tusk of 75 cm length, girth 18cm and 3.1kg weight. Both the accused have been arrested on charges of hunting a spotted deer , its trade and illegal possession of an ivory. The further investigation is going on under ACF Sandip Suryawanshi and RFO Kantaraj Chavan.
