Peafowl with broken right leg treated at Veterinary College Shimoga

29th May 2021 , Shimoga, Karnataka . One peafowl was found with broken right leg near Melige village in Thirthahally range. The peafowl was taken to veterinary college shimoga and surgery was done and a rod was fixed. As there is no customised rod or plate available for birds in India , the vets used human dental treatment plates to fix it. It was a tibial bone fracture.the other leg of the bird is also fractured (femur bone) but it is healed and it is doing well.
