Participating in slew of programs held on occasion of World Environment Day at Dharamsthala , Minister for Forests, Kannada and Culture Aravind Limbavali said that conserving the environment is the responsibility of all and hence people should plant as many saplings as possible wherever there is enough space.
He launched a programme of planting fruit-bearing seedlings which would be replicated all over the State . The Minister said that increasing the greenery will yield pure natural oxygen to people and animals.The Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) and the Forest Department will jointly plant fruit bearing saplings on 125 hectares in the surrounding of Dharmasthala. A forest raised on Miyawaki method on half-an-acre at Dharmasthala was inaugurated on the occasion. The Minister also launched a green bus at the temple town on the occasion and tied “Vriksha Bandhan” to trees as a symbol resolve to protect trees .
KFD officials along with shourya disaster management team of SKDRP took an oath to protect the environment ..A special planting model called”Miyavaki “was inaugurated by honourable forest minister Sri Arvind limbavali. To encourage the environment conservation and to enlighten in the people special “double decker green bus” designed by Sri Kshetra Dharmastala was inaugurated near gangotri guest house by forest minister. Free Sandalwood saplings were distributed to the public and Shourya Disaster Team, Dharmastala ..
