Recently established tissue culture laboratory has started production of saplings of Bambusa tulda . As per production projections the lab shall be producing 1 lakh saplings of Bambusa tulda every month . This shall be made available to farmers of Karnataka at production cost .

Tulda is a thornless variety of bamboo from Assam and is first time being introduced in Karnataka in such a large scale . Tulda is very useful for agarbathi stick making. Lab shall also take up production of other species like sandalwood etc.

National Bamboo Mission had set up a tissue culture laboratory in Research wing of Karnataka Forest Department at their Research Station in Doresanipalya Campus.
