Dasara Elephant Balarama who died due to illness on 07/05/2023 was given ceremonial farewell with all government honours, Gun salute and religious rituals were performed on 08/05/2023 at Karekatte Forest Area in Hunsur Wildlife Range of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in presence of Smt. Malathi Priya IFS, Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Circle, Mysuru, Sri. Harshakumar Chikkanaragund IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests & Director, Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, Hunsur, Smt. Seema P.A, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Hunsur Division, Sri. Sourab Kumar IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Wildlife Division, Sri. Sharana Basappa, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Virajpet Division, all Asst. Conservator of Forests & Range Forest Officer of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, The royal family member Smt. Sruthikeerthi Devi Urs, Care takers of Balarama Elephant Sri. Thimma Elephant Mahut & family members, Sri. Manjunatha, Elephant Kavadi & family members, Dr. Ramesh, Dr. Nagaraju and Dr. Mujeeb Rehaman Veterinarians who took care of Balarama Elephant.
